GENERAL PHILOSOPHY

Personally, as with most of the residents of our area, the citizens of Louisiana and the United States, I am a member of the moderate middle. I am neither a member of the looney left nor the radical right. I am a pragmatist whose only goal is getting things done in the best interests of my constituents and our citizens. I will make myself available at all times to take your calls and help you with any issues you have.

A state representative is only a vessel through which the interests of its constituents flow. Politics is also the art of compromise the goal of which is to reach an agreement with all sides where the best interests of your constituents and the overall citizenry are realized through respectful negotiation, without conceding core principles. Most business people will tell you that a good business deal is getting 60-80% of what you want, and in that case, all sides will walk away happy.

What I am not is a flame throwing, fist banging, jerk and social media hog who gets nothing done on behalf of my constituents while taking undeserved credit for things with which I had nothing to do. What I am is a civil and effective negotiator who quietly gets things done and is willing to share credit with those to whom credit is also due. I am even willing to give credit to others, even if they are on the other side of an issue from me. Where did I get this experience? I played team sports all of my life. We need to restore civility, respect and a sense of decorum to our House of Representatives!

I believe in individual and natural rights, liberties and freedoms, many of which are enshrined in the U.S. and Louisiana Constitutions. With such rights, however, come responsibilities. The real character of a person is not revealed in how we exercise our rights, but is revealed in how we implement our responsibilities. My core principles are contained in the old adages: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” and the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do

unto you.”
